The Passing of Rev. Dr. William S. Epps

On behalf of Rev. Samuel J. Doyle and the entire First Baptist Family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Epps family and the Second Baptist Church of Los Angeles, California, in the passing of Rev. Dr. William S. Epps, who served as our eighth Senior Pastor from 1975 to 1983. The Celebration of Life for Rev. Epps will be on Saturday, January 31, at 2:00 p.m. EST. Monthly Congregational Prayer in 2026

We invite everyone to join us for Congregational Prayer on the Saturday before the First Sunday of each month in 2026. It will be held in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. As Reverend Doyle says, “When we pray together, we worship together, we study together, and we fellowship together, we’ll be able to work together.”

Our 2025 Gold Star Members!

First Baptist Church will recognize its Gold Star Members during our Founder’s Day Service on Sunday, October 19! These are individuals who have been members of First Baptist Church for fifty years or more: Congratulations to our newest Gold Star Members! We also acknowledge Mrs. Annie Pearl Wilson, a member of First Baptist Church for 86 years!
