Rev. Dr. Darryl Warren Aaron grew up in Charlotte, North
Carolina where he attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He
completed his B.A. degree in Dramatic Literature at North Carolina
Central University and received teacher certification from
University of North Carolina - Charlotte. He continued his studies
at the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union
University where he received the Master of Divinity degree. He
received his Doctor of Ministry in Church Growth and Development
from Drew University.
Dr. Aaron served churches in Richmond, VA and
Charlotte, NC before he was installed as Senior Pastor of First
Baptist Church, the oldest African-American
church in Winston-Salem, NC. Under his leadership, First Baptist
has strengthened its commitment to serve the community with the
Louise Smith Summer Adventure Camp, Kids for Christ (KFC), Operation
Inasmuch, a food pantry and clothes closet among other ministries.
Friday Noonday Service and Wednesday Bible Study provide
opportunities for reflection and prayer. The Health/Wellness
Ministry, tutoring program for school age children, Communication
Ministry and Strategic Planning Committee are all a part of the
church’s “view with a vision”.
Dr. Aaron and his wife Monica are proud parents
of Naomi Audrey and Noah Augustine who keep them busy with track,
basketball and theatre. When he has spare time, Rev. Aaron enjoys
reading, jogging, and the performing arts.
When asked about serving the church, Dr. Aaron
stated, “God has promised us so many things but we cannot receive
them without faith and trust in him. That is the reason why I have
declared that this is a time of expectation and great effort.”
